Pee Wee Stars B Pool Champions!!!

The road to the championship game was a tough one for the Stars and it included playing a tie breaker game vs the Embro Edge. After claiming that victory the Stars faced a 3 game series against the Woolwich Wildcats who placed first in the B pool.

In game one of the series Woolwich jumped into the lead halfway through the first period.  The Stars answered back quickly.  Alen V,assisted by Cam B, netted his first goal of the season, with 2:36 left in the first.  Woolwich answered back quickly jumping out to a 2-1 lead.  Woolwich added to their lead in the second and then scored their 4th in the third period.  Cam B, assisted by Hayden F scored the Stars second goal in the third.  Hard hat player of the game went to Alen V and the smartie award went to the Alen/Alan line of Alen V, Alan D and Caden P for hustle through out the game and smart fore checking. Despite playing right to the end and not giving up, the Stars went down 1 -0 in the series.

Game two brought the Stars back to their own barn (foggy glass and all). The teams remained scoreless through 10 minutes of play.   Alan D, assisted by Owen J and Michael B, opened up the scoring in the second period. Two minutes later Caden P, assisted by Jaxsen and Alen V, opened up the Stars lead.  Woolwich answered quickly with their first goal of the game.  With 15 minutes left to play the Stars were determined to maintain their lead and that is exactly what they did.  Alan D, assisted by Michael B and Owen J,  scored his second goal of the evening less than 2 minutes into the third period.  Woolwich scored one more goal, but the Stars battled right to the end for the win.

The third game played out on Friday night, there was a standing room crowd (well there were people standing) for what would prove to be the final game of the series.  The teams battled hard remaining scoreless for most of the first period. Woolwich scored two goals about a minute apart to end the period.  Undeterred the Stars took command of the second period.  Cam B, assisted by Jaxsen L and Jaden G scored the first goal 4 minutes into the period.  Jaxsen L, assisted by Alan D and Caden P, tied the game up with a minute left to play in the second.  The third period is one that many fans will have to take time to recover from!  Michael B, assisted by Jaxsen L and Cam B, gave the Stars the lead about 5 minutes in.  Despite a constant barrage on the Stars net by the Wildcats,  Serger G turned away shot after shot.   With about 2 minutes let Woolwich pulled their goalie while the Stars fended off all six players.  As fate would have it, Woolwich, put the tying goal in at 0:55 left.  The teams battled the last few seconds of the game, with the Stars putting the puck in the Wildcats end.  Battling right up to the very end, Jaxsen L scored with an 0:01 seconds left handing the Stars the championship!  What a finish, what a series!

The PeeWee LL2 Stars had an amazing year.  Starting the year as a group of individuals, and despite facing illness, broken bones, and concussions  they grew together as a team.  The Stars represented their association well throughout the season making it to the semi finals in both of their tournaments and then battling through the playoffs to the finals.  Boys you should be proud of yourselves and your achievements this year.  Shout outs to the entire team, Seger G for always giving us a chance to win, our defensive core, Jaden G, Hayden F, Owen J, Alen V, and Scott D who always battle hard and our forwards, Cam B, Michael B, Owen V,Alex G, Jaxsen L, , and Alan D who always played right up to the final whistle.  Thanks also go out to our AP players Caden P and Logan G for helping out!  A final thank you goes to our fans, for supporting the team through out the season, for sharing in our wins and loses a like.

Our final ice is Sunday April 2 at 3:05 in St. Clements.  We are looking forward to a fun game against the parents.  Hope everyone comes ready to play!
