Stars capture Bronze in Richard Vollmer Memorial LL Tournament
The Stars finished our local tournament in Wellesley with a 2-2 record earning 3rd place!
Our first game of the tournament was on Saturday morning at 10am vs Barrie. The Stars put forth a strong offensive game to register our first win of the tournament with a score of 5-0 and our goalie #40 earned his first tournament game shutout of the season. Game 2 was against a strong St Marys Rock team which resulted in a 7-0 loss. Our third game started on Sunday morning against the same Barrie team from Game 1 and we battled to a 7-2 win. Our semi-final game was a back and forth battle against the New Hamburg Huskies on Sunday at noon. Both teams played a really hard fought game and we undoubtedly played our best game of the season being able to skate, pass, support teammates and compete with the New Hamburg team for the full three periods of the game. A lucky bounce put New Hamburg ahead by 1 goal with less than 1:30 left in the third period ending our chances to make it to the finals with a rematch against St Marys.
Coaches, parents and fans were excited to see such a great representation of Stars Hockey in this tournament.
