Welcome Back Stars!
This message has been updated to include changes related to our first ice times in Twin Centre.

We are unable to begin ice times before August 28th based on OMHA requirements so our new start date will be August 28th for Preseason Skates.  Please note the new dates below in the newsletter and be advised that there may still be some changes so make sure to check the www.tcmha.ca website for the most up-to-date schedule.

Twin Centre Players and Parents,
After what I’m sure was a busy summer for all, the 2023-2024 hockey season is just around the corner.  TWIN CENTRE HOCKEY begins August 28th!

Your Twin Centre Executive has been working hard to make sure we are ready for the season’s start and on behalf of your board; I wish to welcome you back to the ice!

The below information has been provided to answer questions you may have as we get a start to the upcoming 2023-2024 season.

PRESEASON ICE TIMES

The first ice times will begin on August 28th for a few age groups in the St Clements Arena.  St Clements Arena is the only arena to open in our Township, while construction continues on the new Wellesley Township Recreation Centre, scheduled to be ready for skates in mid-October at the new location 1401 Queens Bush Road.  Please check the TCMHA website @ www.tcmha.ca for ice times and schedules as they are updated frequently throughout the season.

Twin Centre has decided to again extend pre-tryout skates to all players registered in U8 through U18 before tryouts or practices begin.  These are an opportunity for players to get back on their skates.  Those ice times will begin on August 28th for U15 and U18, followed by U8/U9, U11 & U13 on August 31st.  All players registered in Twin Centre are invited out to these “Preseason Skates”, regardless of whether they are trying out for a Representative team or not.  These sessions are listed on our website as “Preseason Skate”.

U8 & U9 -> Aug 31, Sep 7, 9, 10 U15 -> Aug 28, Sep 5, 9, 12

U11 -> Aug 31, Sep 7, 9, 10 U18 -> Aug 28, Sep 5, 9, 11

U13 -> Aug 31, Sep 7, 9, 12

U7 ice times will begin at the end of September

First Stars program ice times will begin on October 7th

DRYLAND TRAINING SESSIONS – FREE TO TCMHA PLAYERS

Dryland sessions are open to all players registered in Twin Centre from U8 to U15.  Dryland will be held at the Wellesley soccer fields/pavilion from 6:00pm-7:30pm on Aug 28, 30, Sep 6, 8.  Please contact Damon for more information ([email protected])

BODY CHECKING CLINIC (U15 & U18)

Twin Centre will be running a Body Checking Clinic on Sunday September 10th from 3pm-5pm.  This clinic is MANDATORY for all players trying out for U15 REP and/or wishing to be considered as Affiliate Players (APs) to U15 REP.  Also, for any players trying out for U18 REP who have not previously completed a Body Checking Clinic, they will also be required to attend this clinic prior to tryouts.  Please contact our Registrar ([email protected]) or U11-U18 Convenor ([email protected]) for details.

REP TRYOUTS

REP Tryouts will begin on or after September 14th, depending on the age division.  These are noted on the calendar as “Tryout”.  The cost of REP Tryouts is $75 per player and must be paid through the Hockey Canada HCR 3.0 portal (same as when you registered) by September 10th, 2023.  Those not registered and paid are unable to attend tryouts.

U9 -> Sep 14, 16, 19, 21 U15 -> Sep 15, 16, 18, 23

U11 -> Sep 14, 16, 19, 23 U18 -> Sep 18, 19, 23, 25

U13 -> Sep 15, 16, 18, 23

There will be a minimum of 4 tryout ice times for REP teams to make their selections.  REP coaches will reach out to those players on the tryout list prior to the first tryout session.

Additional ice times may be listed for each team based on exhibition games scheduled or for ice times added by that team during tryouts.

LOCAL LEAGUE

For those players signed up for Local League and who are not trying out for REP, LL team ice times will begin on or after September 18th.  These are noted on the calendar as “Practice”.

FIRST STARS PROGRAM

For those players signed up for our FIRST STARS program, the first ice session will be Saturday October 7th.  You will see these sessions added to the TCMHA calendar over the coming weeks.

PLAYER ASSIST – EQUIPMENT RENTAL PROGRAM

For those players (First Stars and U7-U9) signed up for the equipment rental program, your equipment pickup date will be Saturday August 19th from 9am-11am at Wellesley Arena – 1004 Catherine St, Wellesley.  Please make plans to drop in for your sizing and pick up your equipment.  Any questions, please contact Ryan ([email protected])

HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT

We will once again have great programs lined up for this season.  Twin Centre will be providing options for both dedicated Goalie training as well as Power skating and Hockey Development Player Programs.  Both Goalie Clinics and Power skating/Hockey Development Programs will be run at our home arenas so there’s no driving required to Kitchener-Waterloo or elsewhere to get a first class hockey development program for both players and goalies interested in this from Twin Centre.  There will be a maximum limit on the number of participants and registration will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Additional information will be coming soon!

LOCAL LEAGUE TEAM STAFF NEEDED

If you are interested in volunteering for Twin Centre in a coaching or team staff role with one of our local league teams, please reach out to Brett ([email protected]).

COMMUNICATIONS

Our TCMHA website is your best source of scheduling information and communications.  We have and will continue to post information and communications on our programs and schedules through the www.tcmha.ca website.  Our website has a feature available to sign-up and subscribe to calendar updates for your child’s team.  Should you have any questions as we start the season, you can reach us through our general info mailbox at [email protected], on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) or reach out to a member of your board (https://tcmha.ca/Staff/1003/).

We look forward to a great season ahead, seeing everyone back on the ice and the opportunity to provide hockey programming to all our Twin Centre Stars players!

See you at the rink!
