Twin Centre Players and Parents,
With a change of season from summer to fall, the transition back to the rink has begun and the 2022-2023 hockey season has arrived, right here in TWIN CENTRE!  Teams will once again compete against our neighboring centres in both the Southern Counties Rep League and Grand River Local League.

Your Twin Centre Executive has been working hard to make sure we are ready for the season’s start and on behalf of your board; I wish to welcome you back to the ice!

The below information has been provided to answer questions you may have as we get a start to the upcoming 2022-2023 season.

The first ice times began on September 13th for a few age groups in the St Clements Arena.  St Clements Arena is the first arena to open in our Township, followed by Wellesley Arena at the end of the month.  Please check the TCMHA website @ www.tcmha.ca for ice times and schedules as they are updated frequently throughout the season.

As per the Hockey Canada player development pathway, participants in U9, U11 and U13 must be provided with pre-tryout skates.  Twin Centre has decided to once again extend these pre-tryout skates to all players registered in U8 to U18.  All players registered in Twin Centre are invited out to these “Preseason Skates”, regardless of whether they are trying out for a Representative team or not.  These sessions are listed on our website as “Preseason Skate”.

U8 & U9 -> Sep 13, 15, 23, 24

* U11 -> Sep 13, 17, 18, 23, 24

* U13 -> Sep 15, 17, 20, 23, 24

U15 -> Sep 13, 15, 19, 22

U18 -> Sep 13, 15, 20, 22

* U11 & U13 divisions are split by birth year so be sure to check the calendar for the correct ice time to attend.

U7 ice times will begin on September 24th

First Stars program ice times will begin on October 8th

Twin Centre will be running a Body Checking Clinic on Monday September 26th from 7pm-9pm (subject to change based on scheduling and ice availability).  This clinic is MANDATORY for all players trying out for U15 REP and/or wishing to be considered as Affiliate Players (APs) to U15 REP.  Also, for any players trying out for U18 REP who have not previously completed a Body Checking Clinic, they will also be required to attend this clinic prior to tryouts.  Please contact our Registrar ([email protected]) or U11-U18 Convenor ([email protected]) for details.

REP Tryouts will begin on or after September 26th, depending on the age division.  These are noted on the calendar as “Tryout”.  The cost of REP Tryouts is $50 per player and must be paid through the Hockey Canada HCR 3.0 portal (same as when you registered) by September 23rd, 2022.  Those not registered and paid are unable to attend tryouts.  This year, there will be a minimum of 4 tryout ice times for REP teams to make their selections.  REP coaches will reach out to those players on the tryout list prior to the first tryout session.

U8 & U9 -> Sep 26, 29, Oct 1, 3

U11 -> Sep 27, 29, Oct 2, 3

U13 -> Sep 26, 29, Oct 1, 3

U15 -> Sep 27, 29, Oct 1, 3

U18 -> Sep 26, 27, Oct 1, 3

Additional ice times may be listed for each team based on exhibition games scheduled or for ice times added by that team during tryouts.

For those players signed up for Local League and who are not trying out for REP, LL team ice times will begin on or after September 24th.  These are noted on the calendar as “Practice”.

For those players signed up for our FIRST STARS program, the first ice session will be Saturday October 8th.  You will see these sessions added to the TCMHA calendar over the next week.

For those players (First Stars and U7-U9) signed up for the equipment rental program, your equipment pickup date will be Monday September 19th from 6pm-8pm at Wellesley Arena.  Please make plans to drop in for your sizing and pick up your equipment.

We will once again have great programs lined up for this season.  Twin Centre will be providing options for both dedicated Goalie training as well as Power skating and Hockey Development Player Programs.  Both Goalie Clinics and Power skating/Hockey Development Programs will be run at our home arenas so there’s no driving required to Kitchener-Waterloo or elsewhere to get a great hockey development program for both players and goalies interested in this from Twin Centre.  There will be a maximum limit on the number of participants and registration will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Additional information will be coming soon!

If you are interested in volunteering for Twin Centre in a coaching or team staff role with one of our local league teams, please reach out to Brett Bartlett ([email protected]).

Twin Centre is looking for players interested in playing goaltender.  Please email [email protected] with your child’s name and we’ll connect to discuss more details.

Our TCMHA website is your best source of scheduling information and communications.  We have and will continue to post information and communications on our programs and schedules through the www.tcmha.ca website.  Our website has a feature available to sign-up and subscribe to calendar updates for your child’s team.  Should you have any questions as we start the season, you can reach us through our general info mailbox at [email protected], on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) or reach out to a member of your board (https://tcmha.ca/Staff/1003/).

We look forward to a great season ahead, seeing everyone back on the ice and the opportunity to provide hockey programming to all our Twin Centre Stars players!

See you at the rink!
