Hello TCMHA Families!
We are excited to announce that we have
been selected by the Ontario Minor Hockey Association to receive 35 full sets
of equipment for U7-U9 players!
This Player Assist program is presented by the Egg Farmers of Ontario and is a new pilot project to help families who may be feeling the pinch because of COVID-19 participate in the game.
What this means for us: We now have 35 full sets of equipment that we are able to loan out to U7-U9 players every season! The sets include skates, shin pads, pants, shoulder pads, elbow pads, neck guard and helmet. TCMHA will retain the equipment at the conclusion of the hockey season to loan to players in following years, similar to loaning out a library book. The OMHA will also be working with us to help run programming that will enhance the minor hockey experience for the players.
We know this is typically the time of year that players and parents go out and buy new equipment. If you would like more information on being a part of this project please contact David Dienesch at [email protected].
In total, the Player Assist program will eliminate the cost of equipment for 350 hockey families across 10 minor hockey associations for players entering the game.
“Cost is sometimes identified as a barrier for some families to get involved in our great game. We thank our partner the Egg Farmers of Ontario for launching this initiative to help hundreds of families for years to come,” says OMHA Executive Director Ian Taylor.
“The pandemic has taken a toll on Canadian families and hit them in the pocketbook. Families are going to have to make some difficult choices in terms of how they spend their money going forward. We want to help hundreds of young people around the province enter the game without the barrier of having to purchase equipment,” says Scott Helps, Chair of the Egg Farmers of Ontario.
Thank you to the Egg Farmers of Ontario and Ontario Minor Hockey Association for bringing this program to Twin Centre!
