Dear Twin Centre families,
We are providing an update at the halfway point of the year as we near the last remaining practices for our Twin Centre teams in 2020 before the Christmas break.
We wish to update the membership that as our region moved into the Red (control) category at the end of November, we were required to reduce our ice time frequency from 2 times per week to 1 time per week for each team, given the number of participants allowed on ice was reduced to 10 and the focus of activities was changed to skills development only. As such the ice times were adjusted to still keep our teams on the ice once per week while also following the updated protocols from Region of Waterloo Public Health as well as facility changes required by the Township of Wellesley.
While a change to Red was made by the Province, the Township of Wellesley Council passed a motion providing Twin Centre with a temporary reduced ice rate (50% rate reduction) that stays in effect while our region remains in Red. This is a welcome change and a help to our overall operating costs this season. Your Board of Directors convened following this change to review both our current hockey programming plan and make any subsequent changes going into the Christmas Break for the 2nd half of the season.
We realize that our ice time has reduced due to the Region being in Red and ice costs have also reduced by 50% but we also want to highlight to all members that your Twin Centre Board passed a motion that any surplus against the original budget (which included 2 ice times per week per team) at the end of the season, there would be a pro-rated refund issued after all expenses are covered.
As we near the Christmas break, as was originally planned, the last ice times for Twin Centre teams will be on December 20th, followed by a 2 week break for all teams from the ice. Ice times for each team are planned to resume again on/after January 4th.
We also continue to operate according to our TCMHA Return to Hockey Programming Plan that was approved by OMHA at the beginning of the season.
We wish to thank all of our members, participants and parents/guardians for supporting the changing protocols and programming required to keep the kids on the ice. Specifically to the coaching staff and team officials for every team, without your time commitment and support this season, we wouldn't be able to continue to provide programming to all our players. Thank you for all your contributions on behalf of the TCMHA Board!
