December 11th game??? For sure, the Bantam LL 2 Heritage Outdoor Classic took place and became an instant classic, which we hope is talked about for a long time to come.
Nothing could start the night off better than the freshly falling snow to coat our rink (road) and have everyone out clearing off the snow to make it game ready. Once the sticks were thrown at center ice and randomly divided out to make our 2 opposing teams......it was game on!!!
Goals were scored a plenty to start the game, which could have had something to do with the confusion around who was actually on which team....but made the evening even more fun and interesting. Scoring seemed to slow down way through the game (ok 5 minutes in), this perhaps had something to do with the ever growing snow banks which for some reason most of the game play/players centered around (6 guys would go after the ball, 1 would emerge with the ball....the others....lost in the snowbank somewhere.......hmmmmmmm)
The night can't go without mentioning the stellar goaltending duo of Coach Sheldon and Coach Mike...(reporters on scene are asking why these guys aren't playing in a professional league anywhere!). As well, and more importantly, we can't go without mentioning the most important duo of the night, Patrick and Coach Darcy our "Zamboni team" who tirelessly cleaned our playing surface every 10 minutes.
In the end, the score of the game didn't really matter, as a fun time was had by all (and really, it got too dark to even see the goals anymore).
Our final thanks goes to Sherri and Julie for getting the food ready afterwards! Thanks to all the guys for coming out too and having a great time off the ice!
