A Busy Weekend For Atom Rep
The Atom Rep team just finished a stretch of 7 games in 5 days with 33 goals for and 14 goals against. The team managed to win five of the seven games and showed many signs that they are coming together as a unit.

On Thursday the Atom Reps faced Aylmer in a league game and came away with their first setback of the year losing 5-4. The team continued to battle until the final buzzer and just missed the tying goal with under five seconds left in the game. Eric (x2), Michael and Sam had goals while Zach and Evie added assists. Jonathan played well in the game where the team in front of him was not at their best.
The team came out hungry to show what they are capable of in the Lucan tournament on Friday when they beat West Lincoln 8-1 in a strong effort. On Saturday the team kept rolling, beating Ilderton 5-0 and BCH 6-1 with two more excellent games. The Atom Reps finished the round robin with 14.5 of a possible 15 points to finish first in their pool and move on to the semifinals.
In the semifinal game on sunday, the team faced Ilderton again and came away with a 2-0 victory in a game that saw the team dominate the play but struggle to beat the Ilderton goalie. In the final against a pumped up team from Lucan, the Atom Reps battled hard but came out on the short end of the game, losing 4-2. The tournament final was a learning game for the kids as they realized that talent alone is not enough to win if it isn't combined with maximum effort on every shift. The team played excellent hockey on the weekend and should be proud of the fact that they made the finals and represented Twin Centre with class. The team had a balanced attack with 9 different players scoring a goal and every player on the team recording at least one point. Stats for the weekend were as follows (G/A): Easton (2/1), Zach (4/3), Sam (0/1), Evie (0/2), Ben (0/1), Noah (1/1), Tyler (4/1), Eric (3/2), Michael (3/4), Kyle (3/3), Alex (1/2) and Connor (2/1). Jonathan and Colsyn provided strong goaltending by combining to allow only 6 goals against in 5 games played. The team also would like to congratulate the Pee Wee Reps on winning their division in the Lucan tournament and say a special thanks to the Pee Wee parents for cheering us on in the Atom final!
On Monday the Atoms resumed league play in Burford. The kids came out with chips on their shoulders and showed that they had learned a valuable lesson during their loss to Lucan. The team skated hard, passed the puck well and peppered the Burford goalie with shots all game. The effort put in by the team resulted in a 6-3 win. The 10 assists compiled on the 6 goals showed how well the puck was being shared. Goals were scored by Michael (x2), Sam (x2), Noah and Eric. Assists went to Tyler (x3), Eric (x2), Zach (x2), Michael, Kyle and Sam. Colsyn was strong in the net and came up with some big stops to turn away the Burford attack.
The team is enjoying a short but well deserved break before facing Plattsville on Thursday in Wellesley.
