Fort Erie Winter Challenge
This past weekend from Jan. 3rd to 5th, the boys took part in the Fort Erie Winter Challenge Tournament...

Through round robin play, the Stars finished with 3 ties and 1 loss. This set them up for a 3rd place finish and a spot in the semi-finals against the Ayr Flames AE team. After being down 3-0 to start the game, the Stars put their work boots on and rallied back to take a 4-3 lead. After back and forth chances, the game ended up going to overtime and then a shootout at a score of 5-5. Unfortunately, the Stars came up short in the shootout and their tournament came to a finish.

From numerous goals we scored being disallowed, to an abundance of posts and cross bars, to unfortunate penalties called against us in pressure moments in games, this weekend had everything. We as coach's mentioned to the boys that most minor hockey players will never go through the adversity that our group went through this past weekend. The boys learned to keep persevering, no matter what is thrown at them.

In the middle of the tournament, the boys were able to watch an OHL game between the Niagara Ice Dogs and the Kitchener Rangers in Niagara. During the 2nd intermission, the team got the opportunity to go say hi to our local connection, Dan Lebold, the trainer of the Kitchener Rangers. Dan was very happy to see his home minor hockey Bantam team far away from home and get a picture with the boys.

Now, let the playoffs begin!!
