Twin Centre Stars Atom AE advances to OMHA Quarter Finals!!
The Twin Centre Stars Atom AE team has advanced to the OMHA Quarter Finals.  After finishing the regular season with a 10-8-3 record and 4th place in our league, the Stars enjoyed the Christmas break and came back to a strong January start to our playoff run.

Our OMHA preliminaries series started with game 1 at home on Saturday Jan 16th vs the South Huron Sabres.  Twin Centre established the pace and tempo of the game, scoring 4 and our #30 recording the shutout for a 4-0 win and an excellent start to the series.

Game 2 saw the Stars packing up and hitting the road for game 2 in South Huron.  A hard fought game that saw the first two periods of scoreless hockey until our own #27 put a nice shot past the Sabres goalie to get the Stars on the board, 4 minutes into the 3rd period.  The Stars would follow with another quick goal 2 minutes later.  A battle to the buzzer had the Stars put their 3rd goal in with 3 minutes left in the game.  A late push by the Sabres put their first goal of the series in, but the Stars came away with the 3-1 win and a chance to finish the series sweep on home ice.

Game 3 on Saturday January 25th was the Stars chance to seal the series sweep.  A quick goal started off the game and Twin Centre took the 1-0 lead into the second period.  A quick goal from the Sabres in the 2nd put them on the board with a 1-1 tie moving into the 3rd period.  Our Stars came out with a recollected focus to play their hard working, hard battling game we've done all season long.  A goal two minutes into the 3rd frame, put the Stars up by 1.  The Sabres responded by putting in one of their own to tie it up again at 2-2.  With 8 minutes left in the game, the Stars put their determination to work and increased our pressure on the puck resulting in a goal for the Stars taking back the lead.  A late goal on a great individual effort by #44 put the Stars up 2 with less than two minutes left to seal the victory and the series sweep against South Huron.

With a great first round series in this year's OMHA playdowns, the Stars await their next opponent in the OMHA Quarter Finals set to start in February.

Thank you to the parents, grandparents, family and fans who have taken time to come to the rink to cheer the Stars on this season.  Your cheering and support has helped this team do great things this year and more are sure to come.  Come out and cheer on the Atom AE Stars at the rink as we continue to work hard, skate hard, shoot hard, pass hard and battle hard through our OMHA journey this season!

GO STARS GO!
