Saugeen Shores Tournament Recap
Our first tournament of the season was Nov 2-4 in Saugeen Shores.

Our first game was Friday night in Port Elgin against Midland.  We opened the scoring with 3 goals in the first period, but couldn't hold back the Midland offence and the game ended in a 7-3 loss.

After lots of pool fun on Friday night, our Saturday morning game had us face off against the Creemore Valleyhawks.  We worked to try and contain their offence but couldn't get the intensity and jump we needed.  We were limited to 3 shots on net and the game ended in an 8-0 loss.

Game 3 of the tournament was on Saturday at 1pm against the Collingwood Blackhawks.  This was a much closer contest with the Stars opening the scoring with 4 minutes left in the second period.  We fell behind with 2 quick goals in the opening 2 minutes of the third and couldn't recover with a late Collingwood goal putting the final score at 3-1 Blackhawks.

Our final game was a rematch with the Collingwood Blackhawks from earlier in the afternoon.  Our final game was where things really started to click for us as a team.  We were controlling the tempo of the game, we had constant pressure in the Collingwood end and with less than 2 minutes left in the first period, the Stars went up 1-0.  A second period of constant pressure and the Stars put another goal behind the Blackhawks goalie, now leading 2-0 heading into the third period.  As the game went on we keep up our intensity and drive to work hard on puck pressure, limiting the Blackhawks to only 2 shots in the third period.  With a late third period goal the Stars went ahead 3-0 with time winding down.  The Blackhawks didn't give up and put one goal in with 1 minute left.  A stellar 0.933 save percentage for our goalie #30 in this game and the Stars sealed the deal on our first win of the season.  What a great accomplishment Stars.

Keep up the hard work and pressure and we'll keep the Stars train rolling!

Go Stars Go!
