Hard work and battles for the puck continue
With two losses this weekend, our record now stands at 3-3-1 after 7 games played.  The Stars showed in both games this weekend that we really can play with the best teams in the league and challenge them.

Our Saturday game in New Hamburg ended in an 8-1 loss, but despite the final score it really was our hardest working game this season against a strong skating and puck moving team.  We broke our season shots on net record with 42 shots on goal but unfortunately we just couldn't catch any lucky bounces or puck luck during the game.  We were so close on many shots, hitting numerous posts and the top end of the goalie stick on a couple great chances at the top corner of the net.  Sunday took us to Beverly to play the undefeated Beverly Bandits 2.  We fell 11-2 but like Saturday, the score really doesn't reflect the hard work and strong play we showed.  We had a really strong start to the game taking the game to Beverly in the first period ending that period down 2-1.  We continued to challenge them but odd man rushes and breakaways in the 2nd and 3rd periods turned out to be the challenge we just couldn't overcome against the #1 team in the league this season.  So far this season the Stars are the only team to have scored more than 1 goal on that Beverly Bandits 2 team.

All the players really stepped up in both games this weekend, playing as a team and working to control the puck and attacking the net.  We have two practices this week in preparation for our first tournament of the season in West Lorne this coming weekend.  Keep up the great work Stars!
