Play-offs in "Full Swing"
Twin Centre Peewee Reps completed their regular season with a 10-4-6 record finishing in the top 7 of the 21 team Southern Counties League.

The League Play off format is a "Round Robin - home and home series" with the other 6 top teams.  The Stars have played 3 of those games already beating Ingersoll 4-2, losing to Plattsville 6-1 and tying St. George 3-3.

The OMHA Play-offs have begun also and the Stars played Waterford in their opening round.   In this best of 5 or first to six points series, the Stars took game 1 in Waterford with a 5-1 score.   Daniel Rudy and Brock Krulicki each had a pair of goals while Cutis Butler had the other.  Assists going to: Daniel Rudy x2, Brock Krulicki, Alex Kaufman and Josh Monk.  Blair Gowing played solid in net as usual and was player of the game along with Daniel Rudy.

Game 2 was a lot closer and both team's goalies were a huge factor.    The Stars had around 5 very good scoring chances but could only seem to beat their goalie on 1.  Early in the second, in the Stars end, William Weber passed the puck up to Aidan Krueger who chipped it up the middle springing Curtis Butler on a break away.  Curtis made a nice move and scored at the 7 minute minute mark of the second period.  This ended up being the only goal scored in the game and the Stars win game 2 and "take a strangle hold" on the series.  Blair Gowing held the fort in net yet again and earned the shut out and player of the game honors.

Game 3 was another close one!  Early in the first, Aidan Krueger beat their goalie with a nice back hander assisted by Alex Kaufman to take the early lead.  Midway through the second, Waterford capitalized on their chances and scored 2 goals,  19 seconds apart to take a 2-1 lead.  With 2 minutes left in the second, Cameron Hoy scored a nice goal on the PP assisted by Aidan Krueger and Brock Krulicki to tie things up at 2.  Early in the third, Waterford took a 3-2 lead and looked like they were carrying the momentum.  That was short lived, as 20 seconds later, Cameron Hoy took a high shot which fooled their goalie and tied things up again at 3.  Jacob Voisin picked up the lone assist.  This gave the Stars a huge lift and the momentum had shifted and the Stars started to take it to Waterford.  With just over 2 minutes left in the third, Waterford took an interference penalty in the neutral zone which prevented a 2 on 1 from happening.  The Stars called their time out to relax the players and the message was "keep things simple".  After having good puck movement for over a minute, Cameron Hoy was at the right place at the right time and scored his third of the game by sliding the puck passed their goalie with 50 seconds left.  Waterford pulled their goalie but Brett Springer, made sure nothing else was getting past him and the Stars won the game 4-3 and the series 3-0.  Cameron Hoy and Brett Springer received player of the game honors.

The Stars now face Dunnville in their next round and the series will start very soon.

Silverstick
In Late December 27-30th, the Star's regional Silver Stick was held in Kincardine.  The boys played extremely well in this tournament going 3-0 in their pool play.  They beat Walkerton 5-0, Goderich 5-1 and Mount Forest 3-2. They finished 2nd in the pool round advancing to the Semi final VS Listowel who finished 3rd.

Going into the game, Listowel's goaltender had been playing great and their defense had contained opponents to low qaulity chances.  The Stars would have to find a way to get some scoring chances early and often.  The game started with both teams having their chances to score.  Listowel struck first and opened the scoring late in the opening frame.  In the second period, Listowel scored midway through to take a 2-0 lead.  Daniel Rudy scored from a nice feed from Tyler Zyta to cut the defecit to 1 and the Stars were right back in it.  Listowel's goaltender made many key saves and the Stars could not seem to get any really good scoring chances.     The Stars continued to press but it just was not meant to be, Listowel won the game 2-1, and advanced to the final in which they won.  The players made the coaches proud and they should be proud of their efforts also!
