Novice Rep wins OMHA Semi-Finals series
The Novice Rep Stars defeated the West Lincoln Wildcats 3 games to 0 to advance to the OMHA final series against Blenheim.

Game #1 - Win 7-3

Game one was located in Wellesley.  The first period saw lots of great battles between the two teams.  The Novice Stars seemed to have trouble finding their legs early on and Toby Byrd had to make two spectacular pads saves to keep the game close.  Finally at 3:07 of the first Isaac Lorentz broke free and popped one in the net to make it 1-0 at the end of the first.  The Stars continued to play tentative from their usual style into the second, but managed to get both Ryan Forwell and Colton Henderson free to score two more goals to make it 3-0 in the second.  After a brief rest the boys came out flying in the first part of the third period and added four more goals to the count and it was 7-0 with 8 minutes left in the third.  The Wildcats did not quit and as soon as the Stars backed off the pressure the Wildcats scored three unanswered goals to finish the period.  Final score was 7-3.

Game #2 - Win 3-2

Game #2 saw both teams come ready to play.  The Wilcats pressured the Stars but the defense of Edwards, Gawthorne, Egli and Lavallee held their ground and kept defending to keep the game scoreless.  Byrd (between the pipes) was tested several times but continued to play great and shut the Wildcats down.  At 2:15 in the first period the Stars got on the board with a goal from Henderson and assists from Burger and Lorentz.  The Wildcats answered in the second to tie the game at 1-1.  Two minutes later with a big push response to that goal, the Stars added one more with an amazing pass from Forwell to a wide open Stumpf in front of the net.  The score remained close because of great backchecking from Gedcke, Burger, Forwell and Stumpf.....the defense continued to play tough.  Onto the third....the tough pay continued and the Stars kept the pressure on.  The team continued to push and then at 12:10 Gedcke made an amazing lead pass on the breakout that sprung Forwell free on a break away...Forwell buried that shot to make the score 3-1.  Three minutes later at 9:13 the Wildcats snuck another goal in to make the game 3-2.  The last nine minutes of the game was filled with great defensive plays from the Stars.  Byrd hung tough and stopped another 4 shots.  The defense continued to move the puck quickly and clear the zone.  The result was hard fought 3-2 win for the Stars.

Game #3 Win 8-2

Game #3 was back in Wellesley.  The first period was fun to watch the Stars.  In short their play was amazing.  All the boys came out flying and the Stars showed their capability of being first to the puck and dominating battles.  The forwards controlled the puck in the Wildcats zone, protected the puck along the boards, and cycled the puck in the corners.  The defense showed some great heads up plays looking for the defenders and changing the direction of the breakouts.  These are all things the team has been practicing and it was fun to see the team show what they are capable of when they are playing their best.  The team was rewarded with 5 goals in the first with points from Forwell, Henderson, Lorentz, Edwards, Lavallee, and Gawthorne.  The Stars slowed the pace a little in the second and the game was more even with the Wildcats scoring the only goal.  The third period was more energetic for the Stars and they added 3 more goals with points from Henderson, Stumpf, Gedcke, and Lavallee.  Byrd played another great game between the pipes.  Final score was 8-2.
